Led by Satyaki Dutta, a sarod artist of the Shahjahanpur Gharana, the performance reflects a lineage shaped by rigorous training under Pandit Buddhadev DasGupta, further guidance from Pandit Sugato Nag, and advanced study with Ustad Irfan Muhammad Khan. Holding a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Dutta approaches music with structural precision while sustaining an introspective, expressive tone. Based in Westchester County, New York, he performs actively with the Westchester Musicians’ Guild and as a rostered artist with Concerts in Motion.

On tabla, Raj Kumar Chattopadhyay brings years of disciplined study shaped by mentorship under Pandit Sanjay Mukherjee, Pandit Subhankar Banerjee, and Pandit Arvind Azad. His accompaniment is recognized for sensitivity, tonal balance, and a strong command of rhythmic dialogue, developed through collaborations with musicians across the United States, Bangladesh, India, and the UAE.

The evening also features John Szczerbaty, a multi-instrumentalist grounded in a family tradition of Hindustani classical music. He began formal sitar training in 2015 under Pandit Indrajit Banerjee and Lars Jacobson, continuing a lineage influenced by his father’s earlier studies with Raul Sariputra. His contribution adds a thoughtful layer to the program, shaped by steady practice and a clear commitment to the form.

Together, the artists present a focused exploration of raga, rhythm, and improvisation that honors tradition while allowing space for personal expression.
